BM17200 Brake Tester Features
BM17200 Brake Tester is a strong in-ground brake tester for light and heavy vehicles with axle load up to 20.000 kg.
The BM17200 has unique load simulation system based on the concept of raising the roller bed out of the subframes using hydraulic cylinders control by the operator.
BM introduced this principle to the world marked in 1979 and has since improved the concept, which today is experienced in the BM17200 brake tester.
TheBM17200 Brake Tester is approved by several international authorities like RWTÜV Germany and complies with the ISO standard. The BM17200 brake tester is designed for workshop and vehicle inspection applications.
The brake tester features a long range of options, which allows for a configuration, which can meet most customer requirements including:
- Infrared remote control
- Service line and cylinder air pressure measurement
- Automatic axle weighing
- Test of 4×4, 6×4 8×6 driven vehicles
- Diagnostic printout Connection to PC/Notebook with BM windows software
- Load simulation using rasied rollers (i.e. without use of slings)
- Conventional Axle Load Simulation with use of slings
The unique “tilting” raise of rollers ensures, that axle is well embedded into the rollerbed during test, as the rear roller will automatically be higher positioned than front roller during brake test.
The BM17200 is equipped with same electronics and software as the other BM brake tester models for light and heavy vehicles BM12200, BM13200 and BM20200 and therefore the BM17200 offers same high test standard and data processing as these models.
The design of BM17200 is made to a very high standard both in terms of quality and safety. All steel is hot galvanised and the wear surface of rollers is based on mesh steel to ensure long lifetime and accurate measurement. The robust design of BM12200 allows for outdoor installation in environment from – 30 °C – 60 ° Celsius and humidity upto 95.
As standard the BM17200 is supplied with hot galvanised sub-frames, which are concreted into the ground before the actual brake tester is installed. The sub-frames make the planning and implementation of installations much easier and do also ensure correct alignment of the brake tester during concreting.
The BM17200 brake tester can be equipped with up to 3 displays and due to the superior LAN technology of BM17200, these display are connected with a small cable consisting of only a 4 wires. The BM17200 can be supplied with a PDA solution, which allows operator to control and monitor the test results live directly on a PDA unit. This solution is particular beneficial for customers with short test bays, where the cabin of the vehicle passes the display in order to test rear axles.
Wheel span: 850 to 2850 mm.
Advantage and benefit
The key benefit compared to other BM models are the unique load simulation system using raised rollers.
Additional the BM17200 is supplied with the special windows based BM display, which has large analogue readings of brake force left and right, 65 mm high bright digital readout of other measurement results and an integrated guide system, which continuously informs the operator of the status of the brake tester status and also how many axles has been tested.
The display can be mounted either on the wall saving floor space or on floor column devices, which are designed so equipment is protected even when floor is cleaned with chemicals.
The BM17200 can be supplied in a minimum configuration and still allows for later upgrade to all options. This means that in case customer later wants to upgrade to a higher specification due to new legislation or other, then customer will not experience, that he has to purchase another brake tester.
As standard the BM17200 software allows for advanced graphical printout enabling the customer to perform both pre inspection brake tests and diagnosing before repair brake tests.
A variation of advanced Windows Software programs can be supplied with the BM17200. This includes Windows programs for advance storing and presentation of test results using SQL database technology to the BM FlexCheck system, which allows for data capture of a complete vehicle inspection lane.
Applications
The BM17200 is used in normal workshops performing repair of any light or heavy vehicle.
The BM17200 is often selected by workshops, which are profiled as specialist in brake fault diagnostics and repair.
However the Swedish Vehicle Inspection, AB Svensk Bilprovning are using the BM17200 as their preferred BM model. Additional the Swedish Road Safety authorities, Vegvärket, has chosen the BM17200 as their preferred model in their outdoor road site inspection stations located throughout Sweden.
The BM17200 can be installed both indoor and outdoor in most environments and used by various authorities at motorway lay-by stations as part of enforcement schemes.
